About Us
The Manitoba endoscopic skull base surgery program was established in 2008 at HSC by Drs. Paul Kerr (Head and Neck Surgeon) and Michael West (Neurosurgery) to create a center of excellence for transnasal, endoscopic surgery of brain, nasal, sinus, and orbital tumours. Since then, it has grown to 4 surgeons and has, as of 2023, performed operations for over 900 patients. Winnipeg has consistently been at the forefront of modern skull base tumour management as early adopters of gamma knife radiosurgery, image guided endoscopic surgery, and intraoperative MRI.
Our team is based at HSC where patients are seen in the Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and Neurosurgery clinics. Four highly experienced, subspecialty trained skull base surgeons (two otolaryngology-head and neck surgeons and two neurosurgeons) are backed by a team of neuro-anesthetists and neurosurgical perioperative nurses.
