Dr. Paul Kerr is a Canadian Royal College and American Board Certified Otolaryngologist-Head and Neck Surgeon who completed advanced training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at the University of Indiana in 1994. He has practiced as a Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist in Manitoba since 1994.
Dr. Kerr is an accomplished surgeon who cares for patients with cancers of the head and neck, and surgical disorders of the thyroid and parathyroids. He is known as one of the Canadian pioneers of transoral laser surgery in the management of laryngeal cancer. He has been the first surgeon to offer several of the most important advances in head and neck surgery to Manitobans, such as transoral laser surgery and endoscopic image guided skull base surgery. His primary area of research is functional outcomes following treatment of head and neck cancer.
Dr. Kerr has served in several prominent provincial and national administrative roles within the specialty of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery including Head, Dept. of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of Manitoba, and Chair, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Examination Committee, a committee that is responsible for certifying all new Canadian head and neck surgeons.
