Dr. Daniel C. O’Brien, MD, MAS, FRCSC is a fellowship-trained neuro-rhinologist and skull base surgeon with a clinical practice focused on complex sinonasal disease, including chronic rhinosinusitis, chronic rhinitis, revision sinus surgery, and anterior skull base pathology. He cares for primarily adult patients and has a particular interest in shared decision-making, patient-reported outcomes, and the intersection of environmental exposures—such as wildfire smoke—and upper airway disease.
Dr. O’Brien completed advanced subspecialty training in neuro-rhinology and skull base surgery at the University of Alberta, and his residency at West Virginia University. He holds board certification in Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery from both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is completing a PhD in public health at the University of Alberta, reflecting a strong commitment to clinically grounded, population-level research. His academic work spans mixed-methods outcomes research, environmental health, and surgical decision-making.
